Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit (vitae spiritualis ianua),[4] and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: "Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word." Baptism is the first step in Christian Initiation. As a community of faith, Immaculate Conception welcomes new members, both children and adults, to the Catholic Church.
Infant baptism is based on the faith request of the child's parents. Baptisms of infants and young children are celebrated, for families who are members of the parish, three Sundays a month, after the 11 AM. Mass. Parents generally must attend a preparation session before the baptism can be celebrated. Baptisms of school age children ages 7 and up is done through RCIA-C. Registration for classes is done through the Religious Education registration process or through the RCIA program.
Baptisms of adults are done through the RCIA process. You may also call the Church office and speak with Tammy Jackson, the RCIA coordinator, at 665-5359 for more information.
