A happy and blessed fourth week of Easter to all! It has been a busy season and grace filled season so far for me. It has been great to see so many people attending weekend Masses and other parish activities. This past weekend, over 1000 people came to Mass. Some attendees after Mass have been noting that they are just now returning and how joyful it is to be back. With the returning of more people, we have had to use the overflow for at least three of our Masses. I know this has created some disappointment for some who try to come to the church but are directed to the overflow area. I thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we try to follow the guidelines provided by the state and the diocese.
This past week we received new guidance from Bishop Duca in regards to Mass protocols. Therefore, I want to share with how this will affect us here at Immaculate Conception Church:
Masks are still required and are to be worn during the celebration of Mass and at all church functions.
Ropes that block off the pews will be removed to allow for more seating in the church starting this weekend, May 1st/2nd.
Physical distancing between households and individuals in the pews is still encouraged.
The overflow area in the Main Hall will still be provided.
The cry room will be available for families once again.
The holy water fonts will be filled with holy water.
Mass will continue to be livestreamed on weekends. Starting next weekend, we are going livestream the 9:00am Mass instead of the 4:00pm Mass. Hopefully this will help with a better internet connection and also provide those watching online to listen to the choir sing.
Parishioners who attend the Mission of the Sacred Heart in Livingston, will be happy to hear we are planning to resume the 9:00am Sunday Mass starting on Sunday, May 23.
For some, I know this brings good news as it shows progress is being made. For others, this brings concern about more people being present in the church and sitting a little closer together. We will work to make sure people are safe while trying to accommodate more people who want to be in the church.
As we continue our journey with the Lord, the Good Shepherd, please continue to pray for all of us who have been affected in any way this past year and to pray that we remain faithful in following His will!
