Join us for 24-hour adoration and prayer beginning with Mass at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7th continuing until the election of a new pope.
A letter from Fr. Matthew:
The octave of Easter quickly changed with the announcement of the death of Pope Francis. As I state in my letter, it was a true shock after seeing him present on Easter Sunday around St. Peter's in Rome. As we continue to mourn his passing, the Church and the world look to the election of a new pope.
Here is our plan to unit our parish in prayer for the Cardinal Electors and of the Church:
The adoration chapel will close on Wednesday, May 7th at 8 a.m. followed by a special Mass at 8:30 a.m. for the e4lection of a new pope. Immediately after Mass, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will begin along with recitation of the rosary.
Adoration will continue in the church 24 hours a day until a new pope is elected. It will pause only for daily Masses. If the election continues throughout the weekend, adoration will be moved back into the adoration chapel.
Everyone is invited to stop in at any time in the church. For each hour of prayer, we are looking for at least six people to commit. Please be on the lookout for an online sign-up sheet or you can call the office to take an hour.
Every hour, we will ask everyone to pray an Our Father, a Hail Mary, and a Glory Be for the election of a new pope.
at 12 Midnight, 6 a.m., 9 a.m., 12 Noon, 6 p.m., and 9 p.m., a rosary will be offered. At 3 a.m. and 3 p.m., the Divine Mercy Chaplet will be prayed.
Upon the news of the election of the new pope, the office will be closed if it is open, and adoration will stop to allow everyone to watch the announcement in the administration area. The bells of the church will start ringing for a period time.
We will announce through all modes of communication when a special rosary will be offered as well as Mass for the new pope.
Let us continue to keep the late Pope Francis in our prayers as well as our Church during this time of transition.
